| Weatherization Assistance Program
The Federal Department of Energy establishes low-income eligibility guidelines. If you are deemed eligible:
- Weatherization professionally trained crews conduct a full energy inspection of your home or apartment to determine which energy efficient measure are needed to make the home more energy efficient.
- Health and safety checks will also be done for carbon monoxide, gas leaks, smoke detectors, chimney inspections and heating system efficiency.
- Inspection for building insulation will be done.
- A blower door test, a test to measure air leaks before insulation and air sealing, will be done to check home air leakage.
- Water conservation measures are used by installing low-flow shower heads and faucet aerators.
- Electric conservation measures.
- Lead hazards checks.
- Heating system repairs.
The Weatherization team then determines which energy efficient measures are appropriate, emphasizing the most cost-effective measures and those which are essential for health and safety.
