Cindy has been with Westbay since 2005. Before advancing to the Director of Social Services, she was the WIC Coordinator for the Women, Infants, and Children Program in the Kent County area. Cindy graduated from the University of Rhode Island in South Kingston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Resource Development.
She has over ten years experience with multiple community programs that provide services to the low income population. Currently, Cindy is a Grant Review Volunteer at United Way. As part of this committee, she is helping set goals to improve the lives of 250,000 Rhode Islanders by the year of 2019. Cindy is a Certified Application Counselor for Health Source RI to assist the uninsured with health coverage and is an active team member of the RI Homeless Coalition developing placement procedures to house families currently living in shelters.
Early on in her career as a Dental Assistant, Cindy noticed the impact of poor nutrition in children and adults. This was a stepping stone in her choice to become active within the health and wellness of the low-income community. When she’s not wearing her working cap, she can be found in the kitchen sneaking flaxseed in her families meals.
